Pass the Mocktails Please

A quick and sweet post inspired by our friends at Natural Living Community it’s time to motivate you to switch your cup contents up a little folks. Sure, I get it, for many a cold beer, a morning Mojito, or a patio cider can be delicious on the hot summers day. But for those trying to get healthy and push their body composition goals, alcohol can wreak havoc. This is where mocktails are a great substitute! You can still feel a part of the social scene, cool off, hydrate, AND continue to stay on track with your nutrition goals!

Here’s some great reminders and mocktail ideas shared by RHN Jenny Soder:
“Since alcohol drains your immune system strength, amplifies your allergies, and kills your liver, I figured I would toss you a few of my fav simple mocktail recipes.

Heck if you choose to have a beverage then maybe you want to try these as a basis for your booze. It’s better than most other alternative mixes and additives.

FRUITY CUBES
* add sparkling water to a glass with frozen pineapple

SPARKLING WATER OPTIONS
* S Pellegrino Essenza
* Zevia
* Bubly
* La Croix

SPARKLING IMMUNITY
* Flora Drinking Vinegar Elderberry
* Sparkling Water

SPARKLING DIGESTION
* Flora Flora Drinking Vinegar Lemon and Ginger
* Sparkling Water

So what’s MY favourite mocktail? When I am not passing the homemade kombucha, I am whiping up this baby:

Blackberry Mint Mocktail (serves 4)
8 fresh blackberries
1/4 cup raw honey
handful of fresh mint
juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup water
2 cups seltzer

Using a shaker cup blend ingredients together, strain and add to glasses with ice. Garnish with mint and blackberries. And enjoy!
